Press: Deputy chief of Libya presidential council voices support for General Haftar

Deputy chief of the Presidential Council, Ali al-Qatrani announced his resignation and voiced his support for the Libyan National Army’s (LNA) operation on the capital Tripoli, Report informs citing the local TV channel Al-Arabiya.

In his statement Al-Qatrani indicated that he made this decision, expressing his dissatisfaction with the fact that the Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord in Tripoli, Fayez al-Sarraj, makes decisions alone.

According to him, Government of National Accord (GNA) head Fayez al-Sarraj was being “controlled” by militias and such action “will only lead Libya towards more suffering and division.”

Other media outlets reported that the vice-chairman announced his support for military operations in the Libyan capital Tripoli, which is being conducted by the Libyan National Army (LNA) under the leadership of Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

Notably,32 people have been killed and about 50 people injured in clashes between the forces of Sarraj and Khaftar .
