1 in 500 Americans dies from coronavirus

One in every 500 people in the United States dies from COVID-19, Report informs, citing Johns Hopkins University, which keeps coronavirus statistics in the United States.

According to the university, 666,525 deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded in the United States, where more than 332.7 million people live. That's one death for every 500 Americans.

The United States has the highest number of coronavirus infections and deaths in the world. According to the university, 41,531,501 people have been infected with the coronavirus since the pandemic onset.

The coronavirus began to spread in December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The World Health Organization (WHO) named the infection COVID-19 on February 11, 2020, and declared the pandemic coronavirus on March 11.
