A protest was expressed against the illegal visits of some members of the European Parliament to the territories of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia.This was reported in the Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

This issue was in the spotlight during a visit to Brussels by a community delegation and the Center for International Relations Analysis.

At meetings with the member of the European Parliament, the chairman of

Euronest Andrius Kubilius, the deputy chairperson of the committee on interparliamentary relations of the European Union and Azerbaijan, the parliamentarian Rasa Juknevičienė and the head of the Center for European Political Studies (CEPS) Karel Lannoo, it was noted that the visits of some members of the European Parliament to Nagorno-Karabakh without the permission of Azerbaijan damage to the image of this structure. Members of the European Parliament noted that they are closely following the negotiations on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through the mediation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The meetings highlighted Azerbaijan's important role in the European energy market.

It was reported that the measures of both parties on increasing Azerbaijan’s credibility in Europe’s energy security and developing relations between the EU and Azerbaijan are of great importance.
