Spekear of People's National Assembly: Algeria interested in dev’t of relations with Azerbaijan

Algeria is interested in the development of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, said the speaker of the People's National Assembly of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Ibrahim Bougali, Report informs, citing Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis.

He made the remark during the meeting with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis), Sahiba Gafarova, who was on a business trip to the Swiss Confederation within the framework of the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Geneva.

At the meeting, it was stated that there is great potential to further develop relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria, which are friendly countries. The significance of inter-parliamentary relations as a key component of the bilateral ties between the two nations was highlighted. The endeavors of parliamentary friendship groups are anticipated to contribute to the further enhancement of these connections.

Gafarova noted that the parliaments of both countries successfully cooperate in international parliamentary organizations and there is mutual support between our legislative bodies in these organizations. In particular, opinions were expressed about the further development of relations within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.

At the meeting, it was also noted that the mutual visits carried out by the speakers of the parliaments contributed to the deepening of relations between the legislative bodies. The parties also envisioned opportunities for cooperation between parliamentary committees in various fields.

In particular, Ibrahim Bougali congratulated the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of his confident victory in the extraordinary presidential election in Azerbaijan. He expressed his views on the importance of mutual support in international parliamentary organizations.

The meeting also focused the great importance of Azerbaijan's hosting of COP-29 this year, and drew attention to the measures implemented by our country in preparation for this important international event.

Moreover, opinions were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest at the meeting.
