Speaker of National Assembly of Guyana: We attach special importance to co-op with Azerbaijan

Guyana attaches special importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan in international parliamentary organizations, the speaker of the National Assembly of Parliament of Guyana, Manzur Nadir, said, the press and public relations department of the Milli Majlis told, Report.

He made the remark during the meeting with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis), Sahiba Gafarova, who was on a business trip to the Swiss Confederation within the framework of the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Geneva.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that the meetings held within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and other international organizations, as well as the mutual dialogue, made it possible to expand the relations between the legislative bodies.

Gafarova pointed out that parliamentarians represent peoples and expressed that the deepening of relations between legislative bodies also contributes to the rapprochement of peoples.

During the conversation, issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations were also considered. The importance of relations within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network created at the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was emphasized.

Speaker of Milli Majlis informed the other party about the global initiatives put forward by President of Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during his presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and in this regard, she drew attention to the importance of the creation of the organization's Parliamentary Network in terms of the development of parliamentary diplomacy. It was stated that so far two conferences of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network have been held.

During the meeting, Manzur Nadir expressed his views on the importance of inter-parliamentary relations.

It was mentioned that both countries attach great importance to tolerance and multicultural values, and opinions were voiced about the inadmissibility of national, racial and religious discrimination observed in the world. Also, opinions were exchanged on a number of issues of mutual interest.
