Speaker of Azerbaijan's MIlli Majlis meets with President of Bulgarian National Assembly

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with a delegation led by President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Dimitrov Zhelyazkov, Report informs referring to Azertac.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova expressed her confidence that the visit would further boost relations between the two countries, including the parliaments.

Noting that Azerbaijan and Bulgaria are friendly countries, and strategic partners, Sahiba Gafarova said that the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed in 2015 had brought the relations between the two countries to a qualitatively new level. The Azerbaijani Speaker also emphasized the importance of high-level reciprocal visits and meetings.

The sides underlined that the cooperation in the energy sector plays a key role in the development of relations between the two countries.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova mentioned that a number of institutions had demonstrated double standards towards Azerbaijan, adding that the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) regarding the Azerbaijani delegation is nothing but double standards.

President of the Bulgarian National Assembly Rosen Dimitrov Zhelyazkov was informed about the current situation in the region.

Rosen Dimitrov Zhelyazkov congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on his confident victory at the snap presidential election.

He said that these elections were held in a free and transparent manner, and that the people of Azerbaijan opted for stability and sustainable development by voting for Ilham Aliyev.

Dimitrov Zhelyazkov commended Azerbaijan's role in establishing sustainable peace in the region, as well as delimitation and demarcation works and restoration of transport infrastructure in the region, adding that Bulgarian companies could also join the ongoing restoration and reconstructions works in Karabakh.

The Bulgarian National Assembly President congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting COP29, saying that this is manifestation of Azerbaijan’s attention and care regarding the environmental matters. Rosen Dimitrov Zhelyazkov reiterated Bulgaria’s readiness to provide all kinds of support to Azerbaijan in holding a prestigious event such as COP29.
