Azerbaijani, Turkish special forces exempted from mutual visas

At the Azerbaijani parliament’s session on September 30, the draft law ‘On approval of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of Turkey regarding the exercises of the special forces of the Azerbaijani army and the Turkish Armed Forces’ was submitted for discussion, Report informs.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed based on the agreement between the parties on August 11, 1992, and the agreement on cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of Turkey in the military, technical and scientific fields of Jun. 10, 1996.

Host country support referred to in the Memorandum of Understanding begins when the sending country’s forces enter the receiving country’s territory and continue until the last component of the sending country’s forces leaves the receiving country’s territory.

The forces of the sending country are exempted from visa requirements and procedures related to the registration and control of foreigners in the receiving country when entering the territory of the receiving country and leaving its territory. The sending country will notify the receiving country of personnel and supplies at least 60 days before arrival.

After discussions, the document was put to the vote and adopted.
