Aflatun Amashov addresses head of the Georgia-Azerbaijan Friendship Group

Baku. 25 January. REPORT.AZ/ Head of Azerbaijan-Georgia working group on interparliamentary relations, Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov sent a letter to Zviad Dzidziguri, the head of Georgia- Azerbaijan Friendship Group.

Report informs citing the press service of the Milli Majlis that the letter sent on behalf of the working group members, reads:

"Historical friendship and good neighborly relations between the peoples of Georgia and Azerbaijan have always caught an eye for their exemplary nature. It is encouraging that in modern times, these relations are developing on the basis of strategic partnership.

"As known, on January 19, 2019 a bust was erected to Mikhail Avagyan, who directly participated in the military occupation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding regions of Azerbaijan and the killing of the Azerbaijanis in those territories, in Bugashen settlement of Akhalkalaki city, Georgia. This incident spurred a political uproar in our country. It should be taken into account that Georgia, like Azerbaijan, suffers from ethnic separatism. Nearly 20 percent of Georgian lands is also occupied. Avagyan also had a hand in the occupation of Georgian lands. In fact, he is the enemy of both nations..

In the modern times, pain and sufferings that unite our people are the same. Therefore, the Azerbaijani state has always supported the territorial integrity of Georgia and considers this support as the main priority of its regional foreign policy.

"Dear Mr. Dzidziguri, we would like to express our concern about the existing problems and the indicated incidents to draw your attention to the existing problem and express our concern about the incident.
