It is the old policy of the military and political leadership of Armenia to disrupt the negotiations process on the peace treaty, not to fulfill their obligations, insincerity, and provocation. But this policy has no future, Ziyafat Asgarov, Chairman of the Defense, Security and Anti-Corruption Committee of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan, told Report.
The chairman of the committee said that one of such provocations happened on September 13:
"Last night, the provocations took a wider picture. As a result, there were casualties among the servicemen of our armed forces, military infrastructure was damaged. Retaliatory measures were taken by the units of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in this area."
According to the MP, during the last month, the provocations of the Armenian armed forces in the direction of the Lachin, Gadabay, Dashkasan, and Kalbajar districts of the state border and the firing of Azerbaijani Army's positions in those territories with various types of weapons, were intensive and systematic:
"Azerbaijan has repeatedly warned Armenia to stop its provocations. They should know that the response to any provocation against our country will be severe. Armenia was taught a lesson during the 'Revenge' operation at the outset of August. But apparently, this was not enough for Armenia. After the Brussels meeting, Armenia resorted to provocation instead of inclining towards peace. While according to the Brussels agreement, Armenia had to fulfill its obligations on humanitarian issues, we we saw the opposite," he said.
According to him, Armenia became more deviant and committed large-scale provocations.
"It further exacerbated the situation by mining the areas between the positions of the units of the Azerbaijani Army and the supply roads. By continuing provocations in the territories of Azerbaijan for several days, Yerevan once again confirms that it is an aggressor and invader in the region. As the provocation continues, the revenge will be tougher. The presence of personnel and equipment of the illegal armed forces of Armenia in the Karabakh Economic Zone of Azerbaijan cannot be accepted under any circumstances. As mentioned in the statement of November 10, 2020, these illegal formations should leave the territories of Azerbaijan."
Asgarov noted that the political and military leadership of Armenia should fulfill its obligations under the trilateral statement dated November 10, 2020:
"I think that all the military personnel of Armenia should be withdrawn from the territory of Azerbaijan, and a safety zone should be established near the border of Azerbaijan. Hence, Armenia should be forced to peace. Because Armenian revanchism cannot be allowed to rise."
