Interior Ministry responds to allegations on police pressure against journalist

Baku. 4 October. REPORT.AZ/ The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has commented on the reports that journalist Aytac Ahmadova was allegedly exposed to police pressure during the shooting in Zabrat settlement.

Police Deputy Colonel Orkhan Mansurzadeh told Report that allegations about police pressure against the journalist are beyond truth:

“"The indicated journalist interrupted the work of the police duties when a group of people attempted to block the road in the intensive traffic area in Zabrat and violate public order at about 19:00 yesterday. The woman, who claimed to be a journalist, but did not submit a document confirming her identity and workplace, was detained and taken to the 15th Police Station of Sabunchu District Police Department for further investigation. After determining her identity, the head of the department had a prophylactic conversation with the woman and then she was released. She was not exposed to police pressure either during detention nor at the police office. She was treated in line with the requirements of the current legislation in all cases. Nevertheless, Aytac Ahmadova's statements about alleged violence are a "black PR" that is aimed at undermining public opinion and damaging the functional reputation of the police.”
