Assistant to President of Azerbaijan calls on foreign media

"Today, Azerbaijan has set a new goal - the reconstruction of Karabakh, as noted by President Ilham Aliyev," Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, said at a media forum of the Turkic Council in Istanbul.

"More than 10,000 square kilometers of Azerbaijani lands in Karabakh have been completely destroyed. In the 21st century, the destruction of land or a city in this way was not a plausible sight. Media representatives of the Turkic Council countries have repeatedly visited the destroyed areas and participated in media tours. They brought to the attention of the world community the ruined city of Azerbaijan and the acts of vandalism committed. Again, I ask bloggers and media representatives to vote for the just voice of Azerbaijan," Hajiyev stressed.

The presidential aide said that our goal is not revenge: "Our goal is a call for future peace. We want such acts to be prevented from happening in the world in the future. At the same time, Karabakh has a profound cultural and historical heritage belonging to the Azerbaijani and Turkic peoples. Unfortunately, this cultural heritage has been destroyed for 30 years."
