Russian MP: Armenia caused breakdown of talks

"Russia has been and remains in a position to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through negotiations and peace. But both sides must be willing to negotiate," said Dmitry Savelyev, a member of the Russian State Duma and head of the Russia-Azerbaijan interparliamentary group.

"However, recently, we have seen the Armenian authorities' actions that could disrupt the peace process and escalate the conflict. The result was not long in coming; the negotiation process was disrupted. Large-scale military operations have begun on the border with Nagorno-Karabakh. In my opinion, the only way to end the dispute is to withdraw all military forces from the territories unconditionally occupied by Armenia and start a peace process, return the refugees to Nagorno-Karabakh and hold a referendum to determine the fate of this territory inside Azerbaijan," noted the Russian MP.

"No one needs blood, no one needs tension in the Caucasus. "Both Russia and the world community will undoubtedly support measures aimed at the peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of international law," Savelyev emphasized.
