French historian: Horrible situation in Aghdam and Ganja shocked me

"What we saw in the liberated territories showed that the Armenians understood that these lands did not belong to them," Karim Ifrak, an Islamologist, researcher at the French National Research Center (CNRS), who recently visited the liberated Aghdam city, told the French Bureau of Report.

Irfak said that he was shocked by what he saw in Aghdam: "This territory reminded us of the 'ghost city.' We have seen devastation similar to the devastation caused by the explosion of an atomic bomb. The situation in this city, the disappearance of its population to the last person, causes great sorrow and regret. One of the horrors we see is the destruction of places of worship. We visited one of the destroyed mosques. The marbles of the wall inside the building were demolished, and everything valuable was torn off. We did not find any usable item safe."

Ifrak added that the return of residents to their homes after the restoration of the infrastructure of Agdam would have a positive impact on the revival of the region: "The situation in the city, which has been under occupation for decades, shows that Armenians do not think they will stay here permanently. However, the only heartwarming thing is the construction work started by Azerbaijan to give life to this city. We saw electricity, gas in the town. All this demonstrates Azerbaijan's desire to make fundamental changes and provide a new life to the city. The IDPs, who were expelled from their lands thirty years ago, will return to their native lands and contribute to the region's revival.

The French professor said he also was in Ganja during his visit to Azerbaijan: "We saw the destruction in Ganja due to a ballistic missile fired by Armenians. A rocket fired at night killed dozens of people. As a result of rocket fire, a large hole was formed in the ground. This horrible situation shocked us. "
