Columbian journalist: Restored Aghdam will be better than before

The reconstruction of Karabakh is going so fast that soon Aghdam, called 'The Hiroshima of the Caucasus', will become one of the developed cities, Director of the Global Journalism Council for Latin America and the Caribbean, Colombian journalist Roberto Trobajo told Report.

Sharing his memories of his visit to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, the Colombian journalist noted that after thirty years of occupation, the entire region had turned into ruins:

"I am impressed by the attention of the Azerbaijani government to the rapid restoration of Karabakh and its return to its former life. When I visited this region of Azerbaijan for the first time in 2021, there was nothing left, only ruins and destroyed houses. We also visited Aghdam. And now we see how local residents returned to this city after thirty years of separation. Due to the efforts of the Azerbaijani government towards its restoration, I can confidently say that Aghdam will be a more beautiful, modern, and, most importantly, developed city than before."

Trobajo said that the pollution of these territories by Armenian separatists with mines significantly slows down the process of reconstruction of Karabakh: "Armenian separatists tried to erase everything related to Azerbaijan by destroying cultural heritage and insulting temples and holy places. The vandalism of Armenians leaves a deep hole in the historical memory of Azerbaijan since it caused the loss of part of the cultural wealth of this region."
