Azerbaijani Foreign Minister: Armenia's resorting to provocations is unacceptable

On May 31, a telephone conversation took place between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The parties exchanged views on the current situation in the region, the implementation of trilateral statements, and the recent escalation on the border.

Minister Bayramov stressed the importance of resolving tensions in the border issue and settling existing differences through negotiations. He expressed Azerbaijan's support for establishing a trilateral commission on border delimitation and demarcation.

Regarding the six Armenian servicemen detained during the provocation aimed at mining roads on the territory of Azerbaijan, it was emphasized that while Azerbaijan is neutralizing the numerous mines which were planted by Armenia in the liberated territories and pose a direct threat to human life, such provocations on the part of the Armenian side are unacceptable.

The parties also discussed issues of regional security.
