Armenia tried to avenge its defeat in Ganja, says Turkish official

The massacre committed by the Armenians both against people and cultural monuments is unacceptable, Turkey’s Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun said during his visit to Ganja, Report informs.

The Turkish official visited the city as part of the Turkic Council delegation on April 11.

“When you look here, you see an area inhabited by civilians. Ganja is one of the largest cities in Azerbaijan. People were killed by rocket fire at night, in their sleep. This is unacceptable. More than 20 people died in Ganja, becoming martyrs. Armenia tried to do here what it did in Khojaly. Armenia tried to avenge the defeat at the front in Ganja. Turkey will always be close to brotherly Azerbaijan,” he added.

The delegation of Turkic Council ministers and high-ranking officials also visited Azerbaijan's Aghdam, liberated last fall from the Armenian occupation.
