Israel intends to fight with polygamy

Baku. 31 July. REPORT.AZ/ The special ministerial commission of Israel presented a plan to combat polygamy, which, first of all, was drawn up to combat polygamy among Bedouins, Report informs citing the Israeli NewsRu.

According to the report presented at the meeting as a "leader" in the number of polygamous marriages among Muslims in Israel are Bedouins. According to this indicator, the Bedouin families also bypassed the Muslim population of Palestine. More than 16% of Bedouin families consist of one man and several women.

The plan was developed with the participation ofIsrael's justice minister Ayelet Shaked and includes legal steps, foresees toughening control over compliance with the law, as well as tightening the criteria for payment of social benefits.

In addition, there is a tightening of control over compliance with the legislative ban on polygamy. Imprisonment for up to 5 years is provided for violation of this law.
