Work on laying cycle tracks underway in downtown Baku

According to the action plan for the development of bicycle transport, developed by the Baku Transport Agency (BTA), the construction of bicycle infrastructure will cover the city center and adjacent areas to form a network of cycle tracks in the future, Report informs, citing BTA.

The issue of creating cycle paths and stops is reflected in the "State Program on Road Safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023" and the Master Plan of Baku.

Given the usefulness of bicycle transport for the formation of a healthy life and the ecological environment of the city, the Baku Transport Agency closely cooperates in this direction with the International Public Association "Dialogue for Environmental Protection" (IDEA).

According to the Master Plan of the city, 63.5 kilometers of bicycle paths are planned to be laid in Baku by 2027 and 251 kilometers by 2040.
