The construction of the first technical grade highway laid during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Fuzuli on January 14 and extends from Fizuli to Shusha, is underway, the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads told Report.

According to the new project, the road will extend to 84.6 km due to indirect bridges and tunnels in rugged landscape areas. The total length of the tunnels to be built will be about 3 km. Moreover, the construction plan also envisages building road junctions of different levels on the new route.

"The new Fuzuli-Shusha highway is being built with 4 and 6 lanes, bypassing large settlements, as well as the famous Topkhana forest. The first 48 km of the road will consist of 6.48-84.6 km of 4 lanes. The width of the roadbed will be 29.5 and 21.5 meters. The new route project includes the construction of an additional 2 km of technical grade II road to the famous Isa spring in Shusha. The two-lane road will be the beginning of the new Fuzuli-Isa Bulaghi road. It will take about 82 km of the Shusha highway and will be built by crossing the Lachin-Shusha-Khankendi highway through a 900-meter-long tunnel. The project also envisages constructing a road junction and access road to the airport at the 27th km to connect the road with the airport.
