Japarov: Kyrgyzstan eyes using Trans-Caspian corridor to increase transportation

Kyrgyzstan intends to use the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor for road and rail transportation of goods from Kyrgyzstan and China to European countries, Georgia and Azerbaijan, President Sadyr Japarov said at the SPECA summit in Baku, Report informs referring to Kyrgyz media.

He noted that it is necessary to encourage an increase in the volume of multimodal transportation and create favorable conditions for this, including through the harmonization of legal regimes.

Japarov also noted that the need to diversify international transport corridors remains relevant for Kyrgyzstan. This will reduce dependence on one or more transit routes, create conditions for improving economic stability, security and reduce risks when transporting goods and passengers.

In general, the strategic project for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is of particular importance for the Central Asian region. This megaproject will help bring the region out of the transport deadlock and expand the geography of transportation.

He noted that work is underway to organize and carry out cargo transportation along the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye route and further to European countries, as well as along the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran route and further to Saudi Arabia.
