Baku. 20 April. REPORT.AZ/ Today was held a groundbreaking ceremony of the railway bridge over Astara river on the Azerbaijan-Iran border. Report informs, the groundbreaking ceremony brought together co-chairs of the State Commission on economic, trade and humanitarian spheres between Azerbaijan and Iran, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi, the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, "Azerbaijan Railways" CJSC, also from Iran the representatives of analogical ministries and Ambassadors of the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shahin Mustafayev said: "It will be the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran. The two states established a legal framework for cooperation, more than 120 documents have been signed between the two countries, 40 of them are in the economic sphere. Iran is one of the main trade partners of Azerbaijan. And only for in January-March 2016, trade turnover between the countries has increased by 53%. Currently, 439 Iranian companies are operating in Azerbaijan."

The minister said that the railway bridge will be finished by the end of 2016.
