Azerbaijan sends 12 stranded Kazakh citizens back home

Twelve more Kazakh nationals stuck in Azerbaijan by border closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic returned homeland today.

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company's "Mercury 1" and "Professor Gul" ferries evacuated the citizens. Upon departure, the passengers passed COVID-19 tests at the Baku Port, and all tested negative for the virus informed Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC.

The company also transported one Russian and 40 Azerbaijani nationals with the right to reside in Kazakhstan.

Since May 13 of this year, new rules on crossing the border during quarantine came into force in Kazakhstan, based on which the local port of Kuryk resumed the admission of local and foreign citizens having permission to reside in the country.

In the last two months, a total of 90 Kazakh citizens and 65 foreigners were departed from Baku Port.
