Azerbaijan invites Romanian investors to Alat Free Economic Zone

The government of Azerbaijan invites Romanian investors to operate in the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ), which will be the most favorable place for them after Romania, the Chairman of the Board of the AFEZ Authority, Valeh Alasgarov, said at the 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Romania Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Trade, Economic Relations, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, which was held in Baku, Report informs.

“From the first half of 2026, cargo terminals will be put into operation in the AFEZ. These terminals will transport 500,000 tons of cargo per year at the initial stage, and in the future, this volume will be increased to approximately 1.5 million tons. We are ready to evaluate any offer, but we will prefer investors who will engage in high-value-added, export-oriented production, using innovative technologies and approaches to operate according to the best international standards,” he said.
