Russia increases import of polypropylene from Azerbaijan by 3 times

In January 2022, Azerbaijan exported 6,501.5 tons of polypropylene (in primary forms) worth $10.31 million.
According to Report's calculations based on the data of the State Statistics Committee, this is 2.4% less in value terms than in the same period last year, and 31.6% less in quantitative terms.
Azerbaijan sold 5,589.5 tons of products to Russia worth $8.89 million, Kazakhstan 799.5 tons worth $1.27 million, and Turkey 112.5 tons worth $141,490.
Compared to the first month of last year, exports to Russia increased 4.2 times and 2.7 times, respectively, to Turkey - by 98% and 98.3%. In January 2021, Azerbaijan did not supply polypropylene to Kazakhstan.
During the reporting period, 1,167.6 tons of polypropylene were imported into the country from abroad in the amount of $2.02 million, which is 64.1% and 17.2% more than in January 2021, respectively.
Some 738 tons of products were purchased from Korea for the amount of $1.39 million, from Iran - 345.85 tons for the amount of $495,320, from Saudi Arabia - 57.5 tons for the amount of $79,920, from Italy - 24.75 tons in the amount of $51.98, from China - 1.5 tons in the amount of $4,870.
Compared to the first month of 2021, imports from Korea increased by 2.8 times and 80.9%, respectively, from Iran - by 5.4 times and 3.9 times, from Saudi Arabia - by 85.6% and 86.9%. Last January, polypropylene was not delivered to Azerbaijan from Italy and China.
