He noted that without monitoring it is impossible to provide primary information about the situation on the site:
“From the data received from external sources (Azercosmos and others), it is clear that the work is underway on this territory. However, without on-site monitoring it is impossible to say how much it complies with environmental and other standards. Currently, a monitoring group consisting of our employees negotiates.”
Zakir Ibrahimov also raised the issue of involving foreign specialists in the process: “We have enough experienced and qualified local specialists, and they can cope with the task. In general, we have only two specialists who are foreigners and they are citizens of Turkiye. But their participation in the monitoring is not provided. If necessary, in the future, it is possible to also consider the possibility of attracting foreign specialists.”
The protest rally of Azerbaijani ecologists, representatives of non-governmental organizations, activists and volunteers has been going on for seven days, demanding an end to the illegal exploitation of Azerbaijan’s natural resources, ensuring monitoring at the Gizilbulag gold deposits and the Damirli copper-molybdenum deposit.
