Azerbaijani Olympic and World champion changes his weight class for fourth time

Baku. 24 February. REPORT.AZ/ Silver medal winner in Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games, Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Togrul Asgarov will not fight in 65 kg weight class in coming tournaments.

Report informs, head coach of Azerbaijan national freestyle wrestling team Firdovsi Umudov told.

He said that 25-year-old sportsman is now injured and will undergo surgery: “Togrul has serious neck injury. He will undergo surgery. Then go through rehabilitation process. In such case it is difficult for him to fight with his previous weight. Togrul will change his weight class”.

Notably, Togrul Asgarov will have to change his weight class fourth time in his career. In 2010 he won world championship title in 55 kg. In 2012 he became European and Olympic champion in 60 kg weight class. His gold medal in Baku 2015 and silver medal in 2016 Rio-de-Janeiro Olympic games came in 65 kg.
