Azerbaijani fencer Anna Basta makes her way to TOKYO 2020 Summer Olympic Games

Anna, who won 3 out of 6 matches in the group stage, then went undefeated in the playoffs, Report informs.

Anna was remembered for her brilliant performance, showing great determination in the encounters held at this stage. In the first match of the playoffs, she met Spain's Arakelli Navarra. In a fierce encounter, Anna won with a score of 15:14. In the next round, our sable player became one of the four strongest female fencers after upsetting Georgian athlete Theodora Kakiani with a score of 15:10. Anna continued her victorious path against Sylvia Matuzjak from Poland. This time, our fencer, who won by 4 points (15:11), qualified for the final of the tournament.

The decisive meeting with German Anna Limbach was difficult, as expected. However, in the end, Anna Basta won the European Olympic Qualifying Tournament, defeating her opponent with a score of 15:13.

So, Anna Basta will represent our country at the 4th Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo on July 23-August 8.
