Baku. 18 February. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijani athletes have won two medals at the Balkan Winter Championship and the Istanbul Cup.

Report informs citing the press service of the Federation that Nazim Babayev showed the best performance. The 22-year-old athlete jumped 16.68 meters in 3 knots in the Balkan championship and won a silver medal. Zakiya Hasanova won a bronze medal in the Istanbul Cup with a score of 7.46 seconds. At the same distance in the Balkan Championship, she reached the finish 5th in 7.37 seconds.

The 24-year-old athlete has also renewed two records of Azerbaijan. Hasanova gained a new winter record and won a license for the 2019 Winter European Championship.

Teymur Salahzadeh has set a new winter record among adolescents, reaching distance of 400 meters in the Balkan championship in just 50.52 seconds.

Notably, Azerbaijan represented eight athletes at the Balkan Winter Championship and the Istanbul Cup.
