Qantas plane en route to London makes emergency landing in Baku

On the morning of December 23, an alarm was raised at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport due to the emergency landing of the plane belonging to Qantas Airways, Report informs.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport said on Facebook that Airbus A380 traveling on the Singapore-London route sent an emergency landing request to Baku airport due to smoke in the cargo compartment.

The plane landed successfully at 07:08 am (GMT+4), and no one was injured during the incident. There were 356 passengers on board.

All emergency-rescue services have been made ready in connection with the alarm signal at Baku airport.

Currently, the aircraft is being checked.

Airbus A380 is the world's largest passenger plane with two decks.

It is not the first emergency landing request sent by the captains of the A380 to Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Only some airports in the world can receive such a large aircraft - for this, there must be a sufficiently long and continuous runway and the necessary equipment to service the plane.
