Ombudsman's Office: Mehman Huseynov takes food, feels quite normal

Baku. 7 January. REPORT.AZ/ Members of the National Preventive Group of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan have visited the Baku Detention Center of the Ministry of Justice Penitentiary Service, Report informs citing the press service of the Ombudsman's Office.

During the visit, organized on the basis of the optional protocol "The Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment" and the requirements of the constitutional law "On the Ombudsman", the defendants were accepted individually to study the conditions of their detainment and treatment, and issues of their rights and their appeals were considered.

As part of the visit Mehman Huseynov was accepted confentially in the presence of the head of the NPG and a doctor, his appeal was heard and the issue of his taking the food and the condition of his health were studied in the presence and at the invitation of a doctor.

The examination showed that Huseynov takes food, receives parcels, and he is under the daily supervision of a doctor, and feels normal.

Within the framework of the visit, Huseynov’s written appeal to the Ombudsman was submitted to the Prosecutor General’s Office for consideration.
