Baku. 7 January. REPORT.AZ/ An attempt to smuggle drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan has been prevented, Report informs citing the State Border Service.

The State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan successfully continues operational-search and border security measures implemented in the field of ensuring border security and fight against drug trafficking.

Iranian citizens Oghba Tooraj Hassanali, born in 1991, Bigham Chouploujeh Arash Esfandyar, born in 1980, heading from Iran to Azerbaijan, were detained during the inspection at the Bilasuvar border checkpoint. A total of 392 g of heroin was found in their internal organs.

In the course of operational search activities carried out by the State Border Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, aimed at identifying the orderer and criminal prosecution of those responsible, Danil Mamedov Safarali, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, resident of the Amirjan village of Baku, born in 1969, was detained on January 3, 2019.

The criminals were involved in the investigation as defendants, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen in their relation. Operational and investigative activities continue.
