As many as 2,378 people have died of COVID-19 over the last day, taking the global death toll to 21,292.

This has been a record rise since the start of the outbreak. The infection tally also continues to grow. The world has recorded more than 50,000 new cases, bringing the total number to almost 472,000 people.

The death toll from the disease reached 7,503 in Italy, with 57,521 coronavirus patients.

Meanwhile, Spain has lost 3,647 people as a result of the pandemic, with 938 dying over the last day.

Nearly 1,100 people have died in France.

Over the past day, the deadly virus has taken 143 lives in Iran, bringing the death toll to 2,077. In addition, 255 people across the country died of intoxication with low-quality alcohol drinks.

The pandemic has claimed 465 lives in England, with 8,939 cases of infection.

As many as 33,570 tested positive for the virus in Germany, where the disease has already killed 206 people.

Coronavirus-related deaths have topped 1,100 in the United States. The country saw an increase of 8,757 cases of infection over the past day, to 66,942 patients.

Russia, which reported three lethal cases due to Covid-19, currently accounts for 626 coronavirus carriers.
