Several journalists have been fined in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the press service of the Prosecutor- General's Office.

The Prosecutor-General’s Office notes that in accordance with the results of the investigation led by the Department for Extra-Criminal Proceedings under the Prosecutor- General's Office, for the periodic dissemination of biased materials not based on specific proofs, on December 16-17, Abushov Zamig Hidayat oglu, Mahmudov Ilgar Mehman oglu, Ibrahimov Mehdi Nazim oglu, and Safarsoy Rza Ali oglu were summoned to the Prosecutor-General's Office. They were warned that in the future more stringent measures would be taken against them for such actions.

Media representative Mammadov Saxavat Magsud oglu, in his personal account on social networks, posted information on the activities of the country's military structures, the publication of which is prohibited by law and, for which, he was fined AZN500 by the decision of Baku’s Khatai District court.

On December 18, 2021, the Sumgayit city and the Narimanov district courts ruled against olke.az, manevr.az websites, and other internet information resources for the illegal dissemination of information that promotes suicide as a way to solve problems, by substantiating, inciting, and explaining ways of committing it. According to Article 388-1.1.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a fine of AZN1,500 was applied against the violators.
