Armed persons violating Azerbaijani border open fire on border guards, SBS head arrives at scene

Baku. 30 November. REPORT.AZ/ State Border Service of Azerbaijan Republic successfully continues operational-search and border security measures implemented in the field of ensuring border security.

Report informs citing SBS that based on operating information on the attempt of armed men to violate the state border on November 29 in the territory of the Goytapa Border Unit, the service at border checkpoints was strengthened and necessary preventive measures were taken.

At 21:25, border guards saw two unknown persons at the state border who tried to violate the border.

The violators ignored the command “stand still!” of the border guards. Instead they started shooting at border guards. As a result of response fire one of the violators was wounded in the leg and detained. The other one managed to escape. 1 AKM-74 weapon, 1 night vision device and 1 mobile phone were discovered at the scene.

The injured border violator Nassiri Shahzad Shakar, 1976, was taken to the central hospital of Jalilabad region.
