ITU hails Azerbaijan's 'progressive steps' in digitalization

Azerbaijan is taking progressive steps in digitalization, Tomas Lamanauskas, deputy secretary general of the International Telecommunication Union, said at the conference GSMA Mobile 360 Eurasia 2023, said, according to Report.

He noted that the high-speed communication line is being laid successfully through the Caspian Sea shelf which he himself witnessed.

According to Lamanauskas, cybersecurity is also important.

The recent statistics showed that cyberattacks caused a damage of $37 trillion in different countries, he said.

Lamanauskas noted that the coronavirus pandemic changed people's way of life, increased their access to online resources and after the pandemic, the use of computers rose 60%.

He added that the union he leads is implementing a number of projects to develop digitalization in 20 countries.
