ICANN: World Internet may face disruptions after October 11

Baku. 6 September. REPORT.AZ /  Users may face a decrease in the speed of the Network, while some sites will be unavailable due to the update of the protection settings of the world domain name system after October 11, Report informs citing the RBK.

In late August, the Corporation for domain name and IP address management (ICANN) recalled that it was "preparing for the first time to the change of cryptographic keys which serve as protection for the Internet domain name system" (DNS). The transition to new keys (Key Signing Key, KSK) should take place on October 11.

However, the organization warned that "a small percentage of Internet users will have difficulty resolving domain names" (that is, converting a resource name to a numeric IP address) that computers use to connect to each other. For example, due to these difficulties some users will not be able to open the sites which they specify in the address bar of the browser site .

Cryptographic keys appeared in 2010 on the initiative of ICANN. They were used in the DNS Security extension (DNSSEC).
