Facebook Inc. demands to hand over Russian domain facebook.ru

Baku. 4 September. REPORT.AZ/ The US corporation Facebook Inc. has demanded to hand over the facebook.ru domain and stop the use of the trade mark. Report informs citing the Interfax.

The domain facebook.ru belongs to the Center for Financial Technologies (CFT) CJSC – the head structure of the Russian payment system “Zolotaya korona” since 2005.

The US company has learnt that since not long ago, the automatic readdressing to the website of the payment system has been going on from the facebook.ru website. In connection with this, Facebook Inc. has required in a letter the Center for Financial Technologies to reject the use of the trademark Facebook until September 30.

The letter reads that the Facebook Inc. corporation founded in 2004 is the owner of the world-famous social network and rightsholder of the trademark Facebook in all writings. Facebook Inc. considers it absolutely unacceptable that the domain name facebook.ru enables the registered trademark.
