Baku is playing host to the event on "Digital Law: Protection of Personal Data" event as part of the 2nd International Cyber Security Week. The conference is taking place with the organizational support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and High Technologies of Azerbaijan, and in partnership with the international organizations, including companies authorized in this field.

According to Report, Deputy Minister of Transport Elmir Velizadeh made a welcoming speech.

He cited Europe's experience of personal data protection. According to the Deputy Minister, last year, the European Union imposed a total of EUR350 million in fines for the illegal use of personal data: "In Europe, penalties are set in large amounts for the illicit use of personal data. According to the rules, a fine of EUR20 million or 4 percent of the company's income is set for the misuse of personal data.

Representatives of government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), banking sector, international organizations, and representative offices, Internet providers, mobile operators, and others attended the event, along with experts from the EU, Moldova, Israel, and other countries.
