Baku hosts 8th International Conference on COIA

The 8th International Conference on Control and Optimization with Industrial Applications (COIA – 2022) started today in Baku, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told Report.
At the conference, Deputy Minister Rovshan Rustamov said that President Ilham Aliyev considers science, education, and training of qualified personnel important. As a result, the production of export-oriented, competitive, science-intensive products is one of the main issues for the country's sustainable economic and political development.
According to Rustamov, Azerbaijan wants to transition from an economy dependent on natural resources to an economy based on innovation:
"In 'Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for socio-economic development' approved by the decree of the head of state, the necessity of building a creative and innovative society is clearly stated. Digital transformation is one of the key factors on the way to a creative and innovative community. The articles presented to some sections of the conference are also directly related to digital realizations."
COIA serves as a useful platform for researchers and practitioners from different countries in the field of management and optimization to discuss scientific results and exchange ideas. The series of conferences started in Azerbaijan in 2005; It was held in 2005, 2008, 2015, 2018, and 2020 in Baku, in 2011 at Bilkent University in Turkiye, and 2013 at Sofia Technical University in Bulgaria. The international event is organized in Baku for the 6th time.
In connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's conference is organized in a hybrid format - online and face-to-face. Well-known scientists from 30 countries are participating in the event.
