Other countries with large numbers of victims include Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Türkiye.

As noted, Kaspersky researchers have discovered that hackers have spread spyware on Android devices that secretly collect the personal information of WhatsApp users. Hackers have done this using the same method used in Telegram before. This spyware can steal the victim's messages, personal information and contacts.

It is reported that the actual number of attempted attacks may be higher.
