WHO sees hike in COVID incidence in Europe

Head of the European branch of the World Health Organization (WHO) Hans Kluge has announced the first signs of a resumption of growth in COVID cases in Europe, including in the Balkan Peninsula, Report informs.

"Following a decrease in COVID-19 incidence in the Region since early February, there are concerning early signs of a resurgence in central and eastern Europe and the Balkans. The fire is not out," Kluge tweeted.

"4 out of 10 of the world’s countries, with the highest number of COVID19 cases in the past 24 hours, are in the European Region. The fact that we are the 2nd most affected world region, should urge us all to keep doing what we know works to break transmission," he added.
