The World Health Organization (WHO) country office in Azerbaijan was granted international status.
Report informs that the due statement came from Hande Harmanci, Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan.
According to her, before the international status was granted, the citizens of Azerbaijan were appointed as leaders to the organization: "Since the international status is granted, citizens of foreign countries are appointed as the head of the WHO country office in Azerbaijan."
The WHO official said that the procedure was determined by the UN: "Only foreign nationals will be appointed as heads of the organization until the international status is removed from the country office. The UN Development Programme in Azerbaijan has also been granted an international status."
