Unexpected product increasing risk of diabetes by 60 percent

Scientists have found that regular consumption of chicken eggs significantly increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. According to Report, RIA Novosti says, citing a study published in the British Journal of Nutrition.

Experts from the Chinese Medical University, together with colleagues from the University of South Australia and the University of Qatar, studied data on the diet of 8,545 people collected from 1991 to 2009.

It turned out that including an average of more than 38 grams of eggs per day in the diet increases the risk of diabetes by about 25 percent. People who consumed more than 50 grams of the product (the equivalent of one egg) a day had a 60 percent increased risk of the disease. Moreover, this indicator was higher among women than men.

The findings proved that the risk of diabetes increases in direct proportion to the increase in egg consumption, but it is necessary to identify the exact mechanism of the product's effect on the body.
