Restrictions on export of some products from Azerbaijan to Turkey lifted

Restrictions on the export of animals and animal products from Azerbaijan to Turkey due to nodular dermatitis have been lifted, Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan told Report.

According to the Agency, detailed information on measures to combat the disease was provided at the meeting between the delegations of the State Agency and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey. Thanks to the measures taken, the disease was eliminated after November 2014, and no nodular dermatitis has been found in the country since then.

Note that in 2014, nodular dermatitis of cattle was found in Bilasuvar, Jalilabad, Ujar and Agdash districts of the country. Because blood-sucking insects also spread these viruses, they sometimes cause seasonal epizootics. The disease causes the death of animals and reduces their productivity, thereby causing severe economic losses. Therefore, in accordance with the relevant guidelines of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), restrictions are imposed on the export of cattle and related products from countries or zones where the disease has occurred. In this regard, in accordance with the relevant requirements of the OIE, of which our country is a member, work was carried out to eliminate the outbreaks and implement rehabilitation measures immediately after the discovery of the disease. In order to prevent the spread of the disease to other countries, in accordance with the requirements of the OIE, Azerbaijan was included in the list of restrictions on the export of animals and animal products to Turkey.
