Referral from family doctor cancelled for some diseases in Azerbaijan

"We believe that a citizen can apply directly to a qualified specialist without referring to a family doctor," Chairman of the Board of the State Agency for Mandatory Medical Insurance Zaur Aliyev said at a briefing of the New Azerbaijan Party.

According to him, a family doctor may have not enough knowledge or skills: "A citizen should also be told that he or she can apply directly to a specialist doctor without paying more. Further information will be made public soon."
