OTS member states may develop standards on medical education

Azerbaijan proposed to develop standards for medical education in countries members of the Organization of Turkic States, Azerbaijan's Minister of Health Teymur Musaye said at the meeting of the Turkic World Medical Congress held in Istanbul, Turkiye, Report informs.

He emphasized that the event was organized at a high level and will contribute to the further expansion of cooperation between the Turkic states: "The Turkic World Medical Congress, organized for the first time, is an indication that the relations between the countries have entered a new stage. The ties are developing multifacetedly, and the organization's reputation as a stable platform is increasing."

Speaking about the perspectives in the health sector within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, Musayev said that the geographical location, demographic indicators, labor resources, qualified labor force, market size, and investment conditions of the member and observer countries are essential factors to be considered: "Creation of a unified medical scientific space of member countries of the Organization of Turkic States, conducting joint scientific researches, defining unified medical education standards, and ensuring continuous medical education can be considered as the initial directions of our joint activity. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the strategic issue of fully satisfying the demand for pharmaceutical products and medical equipment in every country. In this regard, we appreciate considering the possibility of joint production of drugs and medical equipment within the framework of the organization."
