Moderna proposes to increase amount of vaccine in vials

The American pharmaceutical and biotechnology company Moderna, which produces the coronavirus vaccine, proposes increasing the drug's content in each vial by one and a half times, company president Stephen Hoge said, Report informs with reference to TASS.

According to Hoge, vaccine production is currently slowing due to restrictions on vaccine doses per bottle.

"As the company approaches the production of a million doses per day, we propose to add more of the drug to the vials to remove the bottleneck in production, increasing the amount to 15 doses instead of the current 10," the Moderna president said.

Hoge stressed that this initiative requires approval from the leadership of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the US Department of Health and Human Services. Last Friday, CNBC reported that Moderna had sent a proposal to the supervisory authority.

In December, the FDA approved a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech. The vaccine produced by Moderna has also been certified. The drugs are already being distributed to the public.
