Indian nutritionist reveals secrets of sound sleep

Indian nutritionist Pooja Makhija has revealed a simple way to help cope with restless sleep and waking up in the middle of the night, Report informs.
A common cause of sleep problems is a drop in blood sugar levels, leading to the release of adrenaline and cortisol. In turn, the level of the sleep hormone melatonin decreases, which can lead to premature waking.
Makhija claims that this can be avoided by eating a handful of nuts an hour before going to bed. Almonds contain tryptophan, an amino acid that helps produce melatonin. Besides, it is rich in magnesium, which contributes to improved sleep quality.
