Health Ministry addresses population over Omicron strain

"The pandemic is not over yet. Today, a more mutated, a new strain of the virus, the Omicron variant, has emerged and caused concern," Tayyar Eyvazov, an infectious disease specialist at the Health Ministry, said, Report informs.

In his words, preliminary estimates indicate that the new strain can spread faster, but also the previously acquired immune response could be less effective: "In the near future, observations will clarify to what extent these assumptions are true. Self-protection of people in such a dangerous situation, preventing the rapid growth of the infection will depend on how we follow the golden rules of protection and, again, take an active part in vaccination. Strict adherence to these precautionary measures, as well as vaccination of the elderly and sick, children, and pregnant women against the flu virus, can lead to a reduction in seasonal respiratory infections and their possible complications. Thus, everything depends on us, only by uniting our efforts we can reliably keep the virus under control and go ahead with our full life.”
