Whatever happens in the global world will also happen in Azerbaijan - that is, if the new EG.5 coronavirus strain spreads widely in the world, Azerbaijan will also record cases, the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan, Hande Harmanci, told journalists, Report informs.
According to a WHO official, there has been a relative increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 for some time: "But people should continue to protect themselves without panicking. Azerbaijan is part of the global world. Therefore, whatever happens in the global world will affect Azerbaijan as well."
Harmanci said that during the pandemic, Azerbaijan was able to mobilize the healthcare sector, bring medical workers together, and also give the population the correct statistics: "The measures to be taken against the new strains are the same as before. For example, following hygiene rules, staying at home if we are not feeling well, using a mask, etc. The new EG.5 strain is highly infectious, but not as severe as we know."
